16 March 2010: Far Above Cayuga's Water

More Ithaca, more gorges, more Cornell from this morning's photo frenzy before some more meetings in the area.

15 March 2010: Ithaca is Gorges

I went back to my old stomping grounds for some meetings and indulged myself with some HDR photos of the gorges.

22 October 2009 Photo: Skull & (Broken) Bones

Because of my broken bone, I have been having to find things around the house to photograph; therefore here is a skull. I guess that means I can now be an honorary member of the Yale Secret Society: Skull & Bones.

When I first started working at Cornell in 1994, I was the Resident Director in the building that housed the University's Secret Society - Quill and Dagger. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quill_and_Dagger

I will never forget getting calls from freaked out students when the new members were getting tapped and they saw people roaming around the building in hoods.

1 August 2009 Photo: Ithaca IS Gorges

I ventured down to Ithaca today with my friend Patty. She and I worked at Cornell together and she was in the area visiting for the weekend. We headed down to some of our old haunts on campus and in Ithaca, including Treman State Park (which has some of the best waterfalls in Central NY). It is days like this that I miss Ithaca more than ever. The gorges are just amazing and I have so many fond memories of hiking and swimming there with friends. It truly is gorges!

16 June 2009 Photo: More Than Just Dressing

I am taking some vacation time this week while my sister is visiting from GA. Today was a perfect day so I took her up to Alexandria Bay (Alex Bay or A Bay for those in the know). Last year was my first time up there to do one of the boat tours of the Thousand Islands and it was a great way to spend a warm sunny day.

We did 2+ hour tour of the islands on the Two Nations Tour. Despite the busload of 5th and 6th graders on the boat, we had a great day. Well worth the drive and fee to get a look at how the other half lives. If you are wondering, this is the place where Thousand Island dressing was first made. George Boldt (the same one that Boldt Hall is named after for all my Cornell readers) helped to make the dressing famous and built the beautiful Boldt Castle which will never be completed. Find out why on the website below!
