30 December 2009 Photo: Frequent Flyer Miles

Memories of childhood came flooding back when I saw this sled at a store in town. Obviously it is not an original but I immediately associated this Flexible Flyer with hours of fun in Wilcox Park in Westerly, RI. Did you have a Flexible Flyer? Did you ever do the running belly flop onto the sled? I was out running errands today and froze...how is it I stayed outside for hours upon hours playing in the snow as a child and never thought about how cold it was?

Here is a little history about the Flexible Flyer: http://www.ehow.com/about_5087180_history-antique-flexible-flyer-sleds.html

10 November 2009 Photo(s): Today Is Brought To You By The Letter "C"

Happy 40th Anniversary Sesame Street! Like so many others, I spent many hours of my childhood watching the monsters on Sesame Street...Oscar, Big Bird, Bert and Ernie, Snuffy and of course Cookie Monster!!! In honor of this momentous day, I decided to make cookies because C is for cookie...that's good enough for me!

You can let Cookie Monster tell you how it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omuBNWP0aCc

I was moving some things around in the garage this morning (recycling old work catalogues) and found some bubbles. I couldn't resist especially since it is breezy outside and the skies are a gorgeous blue.

17 May 2009 Photo: Inchworm...I Love You!

Today we went to Minnehaha Park and as luck would have it, we found an inchworm. After playing with it for some time, I placed the inchworm on a railing so that he could be today's subject. It brought back memories of my childhood since one of my favorite toys as a kid was the Radio Flyer Inchworm. To my surprise and happiness, I found that this childhood fave is back in production! If you don't remember it or are too young, you can check it out on the link below. Make sure you also take a look at the vintage commercial on this webpage...it is classic! http://vintage-toys.blogspot.com/2007/11/vintage-1970s-hasbro-inchworm-riding.html

OK so this is not the best example of photography, but I could not let the yearly CNY Diorama Contest go by without a shout out to the Peeps. I look forward to this every year, well it's only the third year running but still I wait with anticipation. It brings me back to my childhood when making dioramas was the best class project ever and I was good at it!

This year's winner in Syracuse was call St Baldpeeps Day which was based on St Baldrick's Foundation. St Baldrick's Foundation (http://www.stbaldricks.org/) is an organization to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer. It's great cause with events that run all over the country. Check it out!

And if you want to see more Peeporamas check out these websites:

28 February 2009 Photo: Double Bubble

I remember going to the grocery store with my mother as a kid. We always went on Fridays to Big M, Big G or Almacs. I was the youngest and everyone else was in school so I had my mom all to myself. Excitement erupted when she would give me some change to go get a double bubble gum ball. My favorite color was red! What was yours?
