18 July 2010: Fire Lilies

I know I have taken photos of these lilies before but I love them and I think they look like fire, particularly in HDR!

8 July 2010: How Does Your Garden Grow

The heat and humidity is wilting the garden but here is one of the blossoms before it withers!

26 June 2010: Growing Like Weeds

Last year I planted a couple of black eyed susan plants - they have exploded. I think there are at least a dozen plants growing in the area now. I guess next year I will have to thin them out or move some other things.

10 June 2010: Lonely

The straw flowers are back for the summer baskets on our house! These are the best flowers because you really have to try to kill them!

16 May 2010: Still Wishin'

Yep...more dandelions...more wishing...this time I got one before it went to seed!

15 May 2010: Memories Of Marriage

Calla lilies were used as the boutonnieres for Bill and the men in the wedding party as well as our families. They are one of my favorite flowers! I bought these today at the farmers market and hope they will last a while in the garden.

11 May 2010: Too Many Tulips

I bought these tulips when I was at the Ithaca Farmers Market over the weekend. I just can't resist tulips - I love them and since they are so cheap right now, I have to buy them whenever I see them! Don't worry - tulip season must be almost over!

21 April 2010: More Tulips

Still more tulips blooming - glad I didn't totally miss them in my yard!

28 February 2010: Home Sweet Home

It is nice to be home for a few days. I went out to get the Sunday paper this morning and our beautiful house looked lovely in it's winter coat so I got the camera to shoot an HDR version of it!

23 November 2009 Photo: He Knows If You've Been Bad Or Good

Christmas came early for me today! I got a new flash for my camera. Sure, I know for many of your this is not such a big deal but I am very excited about it. I took this picture with my new flash...it was done in a dark hallway. I really like the effect of the Christmas lights we have in the tree outside. Thanks Santa Bill!

8 November 2009 Photo: Flower Power

Since the weather was so nice this weekend, we did a little yard clean up. This little yellow beauty was hiding under the leaves and just not willing to succumb to the cold weather yet.

1 November 2009 Photo: Daylight Savings Time

We turned our clocks back early this morning...it's like the end of the sun, hence the end of the sunflower!

23 October 2009 Photo: Falling Faster

I had an appointment this morning to get my foot re-xrayed to make sure all was healing well. I figured since I was out of the house, I would take my camera and try to get a picture in the outside world. The fall colors are at peak right now in Central NY but they are expecting rain and wind this weekend so I imagine the leaves will be down soon. I figured I better get a few more pictures before the trees are all bare. These were taken from inside the car becasue it was a bit wet out and if case you forgot...I am in a case and on crutches :)

Anyway the foot is healing properly and I tried again to get the doctor to agree to take the cast of sooner but he told the nurse to write me a prescription for No Whining Pills. I told them they should double the dose and that Bill would attest to the need. HAHA. I get a new cast in 2 weeks and I am thinking animal print!

23 September 2009 Photo(s): The Fall Of Freddie The Leaf

My obsession with the falling leaves continue as I travel around New England for work. Here are a few examples from my drive along the Mohawk Trail through the Berkshires of MA. I also love the book, "The Fall of Freddie the Leaf" by Leo Buscaglia and this time of year always makes me think of it for multiple reasons. If you have never read it, you can check out the text of it here: http://achievebalance.com/spirit/theleaf.htm.

18 September 2009 Photo: Fiery Flowers

I got home last night from a long week on the road. I was surprised by the beautiful red sunflowers that Bill brought me as a welcome home present. The sunflowers were dyed red and there was one lone yellow petal that did not get the color dye and I loved the contrast. This photo looks like a fire as the reds and yellow play together.

24 August 2009 Photo: Bendy Wendy House

Travel season is about to start and I am feeling like Wendy in Wonderland. I am about to slip down the rabbit hole to Road Warrior World. I will be sure to keep my eye out for the March Hare, the Mad Hatter and of course the Chesire Cat grinning at me as I make my way to the Study Abroad Tea Parties. Gotta go...I'm late...I'm late for a very important date!

18 August 2009 Photo: The Last Of The Lilies

Between this extended heat and the end of their season...my daylilies are just about spent. Here is one last one before they succumb to their end of days.
