20 June 2010: Happy Father's Day

My father in law LOVES chocolate chip cookies so I made him a card with cookie cut outs to celebrate Father's Day. I think it was kind of creative! :) In case you can read it because of the glare, it says:


Dear Dad (man cut out),
We know you like to (fish cut out) fish so we got you a few: (fishing lures). Thank you for being a master cutting trees (tree cut out), watching Mona (bone cut out), ridding our house of squirrels (nut cut out), chasing away the bats (bat cutout). We are we we are able to celebrate times like Balloon Festival with you (hotair balloon cutout) and laugh about things like the "Bunny Buffet" (bunny and carrot cutouts). We (heart cutout) you. 17 February 2010: An Evil Plot In Our Midst

Not a great picture because I did not want to get too close to the "United Cookies" for fear of being recruited into their evil plot. I spent 4 hours sitting across from these cute cookie cartoons and the Girl Scouts yelling about cookies and giving out free samples! Really!?!? Is it necessary to taunt me with peanut butter patties (now called tagalongs for some reason). I did not succumb to buying any but I did get a free sample as I was leaving the building! HA! HA! HA! I beat you EVIL cookies slingers!

15 January 2010: Sugar High

Bill and I went to the Freihofer Outlet to pick up some bread. What a deal - 3 loaves of bread for 3 bucks! When we were leaving there was a truck overflowing with bread, donuts, cookies, etc. I hope they drive slowly!

Happy 40th Anniversary Sesame Street! Like so many others, I spent many hours of my childhood watching the monsters on Sesame Street...Oscar, Big Bird, Bert and Ernie, Snuffy and of course Cookie Monster!!! In honor of this momentous day, I decided to make cookies because C is for cookie...that's good enough for me!

20 June 2009 Photo(s): Surprise!!!

I survived the SURPRISE party for my mother in law's 60th birthday. At some point of weakness, I thought it would be a good idea to cater a party for 30 people the week after our Hot Air Balloon party and a day before I had head down to PA for a week due to my job. Thankfully 2 of my sisters agreed to help out with the party and I couldn't have done it without them. After 2 or more days (I lost count) of cooking, the party was damp because of the weather but a huge success despite the rain. It was a great day - everyone enjoyed the party, the food and my mother in law was surprised. Above you will see one of our creations...the quilt cookie cake. She is a quilter so I came up with the design and decorated cookies using royal icing, used a mini cupcake for a pincushion and made a thimble out of chocolate! Kind of cute, huh?

12 June 2009 Photo: Let The Festivities Begin

The Jamesville Balloon Festival begins today and in preparation of our party tomorrow, my sister and I decorated our traditional balloon sugar cookies. I like how the forks looked after mixing in the food coloring to the royal icing. Don't the cookies look yummy. We tried to make hotair balloon cake pops but it was not successful so we just made regular cupcake pops.
