4 July 2010: Happy Birthday America

Hope you all enjoyed the fireworks in your community! This one was taken from our neighbors porch - I couldn't deal with the crowds of the big displays so we had our own private show thanks to some people across the street!

10 March 2010: Spontaneous Splurge

In a moment of weakness as I was driving through NYC, I bought a new lense that I have wanted for almost a year. Happy Early Birthday to me!

We stopped by to see my brother and niece on our way back to NY. She was enjoying the drums that we bought her for her birthday. My brother, however, is not! :) Just a little payback for the crazy gifts he has bought in the past!

6 October 2009 Photo(s): Cheers To Bill

As I was driving along the back roads of Maine, I came across a Flea Market that had hundreds of bottles of all sizes and colors. It made for some good photographs. Also, today is Bill's birthday so I raise a glass to him and say cheers and I love you!

20 June 2009 Photo(s): Surprise!!!

I survived the SURPRISE party for my mother in law's 60th birthday. At some point of weakness, I thought it would be a good idea to cater a party for 30 people the week after our Hot Air Balloon party and a day before I had head down to PA for a week due to my job. Thankfully 2 of my sisters agreed to help out with the party and I couldn't have done it without them. After 2 or more days (I lost count) of cooking, the party was damp because of the weather but a huge success despite the rain. It was a great day - everyone enjoyed the party, the food and my mother in law was surprised. Above you will see one of our creations...the quilt cookie cake. She is a quilter so I came up with the design and decorated cookies using royal icing, used a mini cupcake for a pincushion and made a thimble out of chocolate! Kind of cute, huh?

22 May 2009 Photo: Perfecto Prosecco

I was getting ready to recycle this bottle of Prosecco and the early morning light looked so inviting. This it the sparkling wine from Italy that Bill bought me for my 40th Birthday Spa Weekend at Mirbeau. I love the reflection of the sunrise and trees on the bottom of the bottle.

26 April 2009 Photos: Spa-tastic

We got up early again this morning and went to enjoy the hot tub and steam baths at Mirbeau. We had an amazing room with a patio overlooking the gardens. This is one of the most amazing places and it is only 30 minutes from home. If you are looking for a get-away, come here for a visit...it is well worth it! http://www.mirbeau.com/spa.html

We also had a great dinner over the weekend at Rosalie's Cucina. I had a pasta dish which was the closest I have ever had to the way my mom used to make it. If you are looking for good Italian, check this place out: http://www.rosaliescucina.com/

Finally, while I was away my tulip tree exploded into it's full beauty. I have updated it here:

4 April 2009 Photo: ¿Dónde está el sol?

We got home on Friday after a week in NYC. It was nice to be home and sleep in my own bed; however, when I woke on this fine Saturday it was cold and rainy. Within a few hours, the rain switched to snow. It wasn't the kind of snow that stuck on the ground but there were flakes on my car. I thought it was spring! My tulips are coming up outside (at least they were), the grass is turning green, the trees are budding and snow snOW SNOW was falling.

Luckily the sunflowers that my sister, Anne Marie, sent for my birthday were still alive in my house. Even though I did not have any sun outside, the bright yellow flowers inside made my day a little brighter.

22 March 2009 Photo(s): Twenty Nine Again...or Not

Happy Birthday To Me! My friends and family are quick to remind me it is the BIG 4 - O which I think stands for the BIG FOUR OH Shit I'm FORTY. It started out as a quiet day but later on Bill gave me a wonderful gift and will be taking me to Mirbeau Inn and Spa in April when I am done with travel season. Tonight he brought me to Lemon Grass for dinner. It was a great meal which ended in these amazing desserts. I had the Chocolate Pyramid above and Bill had the Chocolate Can Can below. I think he was inappropriately touching the "can"! Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes!

31 January 2009 Photo: Sunny Side Up

Just a quick photo I took this morning before I made Bill's omelet. No real inspiration today for a posting about omelets so I will just wish my brother Angelo a Happy Cyberspace Birthday and leave it at that! Oh, and celebrate completing my first month of my photo a day blog!
