I was getting ready to recycle this bottle of Prosecco and the early morning light looked so inviting. This it the sparkling wine from Italy that Bill bought me for my 40th Birthday Spa Weekend at Mirbeau. I love the reflection of the sunrise and trees on the bottom of the bottle.

The temperature is going to hit 60 today and there is no snow in sight so I figured it was time for the official hanging of the hammock! Our hammock is my favorite place to hang out on warm summer days and read, sleep and just think. We live on a deadend street so it is pretty peaceful (except for the occasional train). Today has been a day of reflection and hoping and what better place to do that than my trusty hammock!

2 April 2009 Photo: The Grass Is Always Greener

I love this photograph! As I was walking to a meeting this morning near Lincoln Center, I saw this grass growing with the dew still holding on late in the morning. In a city like NYC, with the tall buildings and concrete, it is easy to lose sight of the beauty of the green grass. I stopped immediately to take some pictures and captured the drops on the blades. If you look really closely, you may be able to see my reflection in the water droplet.

So I quit my job today. While I was in New York City this week, I have been inspired by all the fun window displays I have seen and decided to throw caution to the wind and try my hand at a new profession as a window dresser. Here are some of the displays that pushed me down that road!

20 February 2009 Photo: Reflective Movement

I am on my way home tonight...taking the red eye. My route is PDX-ORD-SYR and in 2 of these 3 cities, it is snowing! I just hope that I am not delayed in Chicago. Anyway, I was going to take the super shuttle to the airport but the idiot at the Hilton neglected to tell me that the last one was at 7:20PM so I had to run to catch the train to the airport. It worked out fine, I just was a bit more rushed than I would have liked but here I am at the airport wishing for safe on-time travel.

I am sure I am dating myself with this one but when I saw this picture once I downloaded on my computer, it reminded me of Miss Molly or Miss Jean (ok I don't remember her name) and the Magic Mirror.

Life was so much easier especially when Miss Molly would look through her Mirror in Romper Room and see WENDY!!!!

3 January 2009 Photo: Reflections

The first thing I saw when I walked outside this morning, was glittering snowflakes coming down. Not a particular surprise in Central NY in January; however, I decided to grab the camera as Mona was outside doing her business. I took a few photos and my favorite was the one above where the flash created these orb like images around the wind chime. It has me reflecting on family and friends who have moved on from this world, but I still feel connected to them.

The Christmas season is always a bittersweet time in our family because my mom's birthday was December 22nd or 25th (a story for another time), the last time she was home from the hospital for a day was Christmas eve 1986 and today (3 January) is the day my mom passed away 22 years ago. This year was difficult for the family again as my brother, Angelo, has been in the hospital for a month dealing with complications from his diabetes. He was not able to spend Christmas eve with us this year but we went up to see him in the hospital on Christmas day. He is doing much better as I write this post and here's hoping that he will be out of the hospital soon because I know he misses his daughter and she misses him!
