This building has all of your dog need covered...hungry for a hot dog - go to "Yo Dogs" or if you need some dog grooming - hit up "Groomingdales". One of my colleagues spotted this photo op last year and I finally stopped to take the picture.

27 May 2010: Poppies Will Make Them Sleep

These photographs were taken in my neighbors garden. The poppies must have made the little boy and his dog sleep.

8 May 2010: Babies

I went down to Ithaca today to take some pictures of friends who are pregnant with twins. They are going to be great moms to these two little bundles who are due in August. We had a great shoot out in some beautiful fields in town.

5 March 2010: Snow Dog

Mona doesn't always quite get that she is not a teacup dog that can walk on top of the icy topped snow. Bill dug out a path for her to "do her business" but she insists on exploring further and falling through the snow!

29 December 2009 Photo: Footprints On My Heart

The snow has returned and we picked up Mona at the dog sitter's yesterday. She had a good Christmas but is not so thrilled with the snow. Her poor little paws get so cold because she is one of those dogs that does not have much fur on the bottom of her feet. We may have to buy her some little booties.

She doesn't look very manic in this picture but just say the words, "outside" or "treat" or "pizza" and she will start hopping around like a bunny.

It's that time of year that senior portraits are being taken at high schools and colleges across the land. Mona is getting up there in age so I thought it was time for her to get hers taken too. I can't believe she is going to be 10 years old in February. She was just a little peanut when I got her from the farmers market and now she is a big baby who still likes to sleep on top of me.

Bill and I stopped by the SPCA today because I am always thinking about getting a second dog. We found some real sweethearts when we were there and my heart broke as I walked away knowing that it is really not the right time for us to add another dog to our family. Most of the dogs that were there had some pitbull in them. I am amazed that people think these dogs are inherently evil. All of these dogs you see pictured above are available for adoption at the Central NY SPCA in Syracuse. http://www.cnyspca.org/ Look at those eyes, they are so hard to resist. The one at the top of page, Deuce, stole both our hearts and kept trying to squeeze through the bars. When we are ready, we will definitely be getting a rescue dog!

28 March 2009 Photo: Dog and Cat Tails

Mona, Bill and I went for a walk this morning down to the park. It is a warm day today and the lake is finally all thawed. Mona went in and took her first dip of the season but it only last a few seconds because I imagine the water is still pretty cold.

The cat tails are spreading their seeds and getting ready for the new season to begin. So as not be to outdone by the cat, Mona also felt the need to spread her seeds all over the park as well by marking her territory.

Happy 2009! Here is the first photo of my photo a day blog taken on New Year's Day of my sweet Mona. There is over 9 inches of snow from the day before but today was a bright sunny day and VERY cold. Mona braved it to be my subject for my first photo! She loves the snow, although she does come in a bit quicker these days as she is getting older and doesn't like the cold quite as much. She will be 9 (or 63 in dogs years) in February. I still remember the day I picked her up from the Farmers Market in Ithaca. Went down to get some produce and found this tiny 2 month old pup in the back of a pickup truck looking for a new home. She has been a faithful companion ever since.
