22 July 2010: Kaylee at Kellish Hill Farm

Kellish Hill Farm is a totally cool place! They have a music barn where they have musicians come to play. It is a totally idyllic location complete with mini horses (I LOVE mini horses). Kellish Hill Farm has bluegrass/folk music all the time so if you are in the Pompey, NY area - check it out sometime. http://rhbamericana.com/

The night I went, a photo friend's daugther was playing for the open mic night. She was AWESOME and has an AMAZING voice! Her name is Kaylee Hale and you can hear her here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkuMkjWAvN0 Keep you ear open for this young woman!

21 July 2010: Bouncing Around B'ville

I went to lunch in Baldwinsville with a friend I met through the photo group. B'ville is a nothern suburb of Syracuse and not someplace I get to much so it was fun to explore a new place!

6 July 2010: Just Another Brick In The Wall

I had a fun evening with some of the members of the Syracuse Photographers Association. After hanging out in the bar of Mohegan Manor in Baldwinsville, we hit the street for some photo opportunities. I spent most of my time in this little alley which had several interesting things to photograph!

21 February 2010: Cazenovia Meet Up

The Syracuse Photographers Association had a meet up today in Cazenovia. Bill came with me to wander around and take some photos. Today's photos include a creepy clown, 2 blind mice and a headless debutante all found in the window displays in the village!

5 February 2010: My First HDR

So I am sort of cheating on this photo since it was not technically taken today. I took 3 pictures last week using bracketing for the exposure so that I could try a photography technique called HDR (High Dynamic Range). I just downloaded the program needed to do this technique in my mind it is a "new" picture. Either way this is what I have for you today...like it or leave it! The second picture is the non HDR version so you can see the difference. Pretty cool, huh?

If you want to know more about HDR, here are couple of the best sites I found that explains it: http://www.tkrphoto.com/hdr/hdr-faq/ or http://www.digitalphotopro.com/technique/software-technique/xdr-part-iv.html.

23 January 2010: AFLAC

I went and met up with a bunch of the members from the Syracuse Photographers Association today at Websters Pond. Apparently these ducks and geese didn't fly south either.

The first one reminds me of the AFLAC duck and the second one - well... A duck walks into a pharmacy, and asks for Chapstick. The cashier says, "Cash or check?" and the duck says, "Just put it on my bill."

13 January 2010: The Show Must...Come Down

These were the three pieces I had in the Syracuse Photographers Assocation show. It came down last night amidst a gallery party for our members. We are already planning our next show!

31 December 2009 Photo: Once In A Blue Moon

I am feeling the pressure of it being the last night of the year...last year of the decade...last blog entry of the first year of my photo a day site! Too much pressure!!! I need a good last picture of the year, final blog post...after all, tonight is once in a blue moon (at least until 2028)! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091230/ap_on_sc/us_sci_blue_moon

It is time to take toll of the last year. I have seen too many news programs about the year in review so I am not going to bore you with my personal year in review other than just like every other year...it was the best of times...it was the worst of times...but most of it was just - well - it just was!

I started this blog as a commitment to myself to focus on my photography. I have to say that it was a huge success. Not only did I improve my skills and join a local photography group as a result, but I also had photos in a show for the first time since I was in high school and shared my love of photography with a wider group of people on the blog. I have been asked if I am going to continue the blog. And the answer is yes...in some form. I am not sure on the form yet but check back here to see!

I know it is cliche...New Year's Eve, champagne blah blah blah. The blue moon was hiding and I have already done NYC for New Year's Eve twice...this is as good as it gets!

In a few hours it will be 2010. TWENTY TEN! Where did the last decade go? I remember when I was partying like it was 1999 and only ten years later, I am partying like I am 99! I know, I know I said I wasn't going to do recap my year, but this is a whole DECADE! Many wonderful things happened in the last 10 years...houses bought and sold and bought; moving back and forth and back again - from NY to RI back to NY; marrying a wonderful man, to name a few! May you and yours have a happy and healthy next year and decade.

22 August 2009 Photo: To Infinity And Beyond

One of members in the Syracuse Photographers Association took a picture like this a few weeks ago and I really liked the image. When I was at the farmers' market this morning, I remembered it and took a few of my own. It was nice because I was there early enough that there were not very many people around. I love the infinite feeling of the lines. So thanks to Chris for scouting out an interesting photo op!

15 August 2009 Photo(s): Photo Group Outing

Today I went on my first outing with the the Syracuse Photographers Association, a group I joined last month on www.meetup.com. It is a very active group of local photographers (some pros and some hobby photogs). The online connections were great but it was wonderful to meet people who are also obsessed with photography.

Today we went to the Seward House in Auburn, NY. It is a great museum of a house built in 1816 (just around the time our house was built). It is like stepping back in time to see the antique furniture and collections. You can check out more info here: http://www.sewardhouse.org/house/

The first 2 images are from the house and the last one is from an old abandoned factory I passed on the way home.
